Vieira To Host Olympic Primetime With Costas Again Missing Coverage

NBC this morning announced that Bob Costas will miss his fourth straight night of the Sochi Games and that Meredith Vieira will fill in for him during tonight’s primetime broadcast. This marks the "first time a woman has ever solo hosted Olympics primetime coverage" (NBCOLYMPICS.com, 2/14). The NBC Sports PR Twitter feed: "Bob Costas continues to heal. Matt Lauer gets the night off" (TWITTER.com, 2/14). 

Costas said yesterday, “I am day-to-day. I'm hoping that I'm back by the weekend and I certainly think I'll be able to do the second half of the games " (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 2/13). Costas has "now missed 44%" of NBC's Sochi Games primetime coverage (TWITTER.com, 2/14).
