NFL Owners To Select Bid Finalists For Hosting '18 Super Bowl

An NFL spokesperson said the league today as part of owners meetings in DC will announce the finalists to host the Super Bowl in February '18. Six cities have applied: Indianapolis, Miami, New Orleans, Dallas, Minneapolis and Tampa. There is "not a set number of cities that will be allowed to bid." The league had two finalists for the '16 and '17 Super Bowls, but sources said that "as many as four could be invited to bid" for the '18 game. The winner will be selected during spring meetings May 19-21 in Atlanta (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 10/8).

Also on tap at the owners meetings today is a scheduled vote to "allocate league funds to help pay for stadium renovations" for the Redskins and Browns, according to sources (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/7 issue).
