Laugh Track....You Go Girl

Tennis player Billie Jean King appeared on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" last night. Host Stephen Colbert noted it was 40 years ago this month that King played Bobby Riggs in the "Battle of the Sexes" exhibition. King said, "It was huge. No social media, only four channels, no cable TV. Whoa!" Colbert said that "people watched it all over the world. ... It was like Ali/Frazier, but with tennis." Colbert said, "These days, the only woman who regularly competes on a national scale with men is Danica Patrick. Are you upset that when you were younger there wasn't GoDaddy.com so you could wear a leather outfit and slowly unzip it?" King: "Yes, of course I was. Are you kidding, I would have loved to have this GoDaddy" ("The Colbert Report," Comedy Central, 9/9).

NBC’s Jay Leno: "This morning I am stuffed. I had the New York Giants breakfast: Six big turnovers. Whoo! Tough game for the Giants last night against Dallas, turned over the ball six times and Eli Manning threw three interceptions. Even Tim Tebow is going, ‘Hey, I could’ve sucked like that’” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 9/9).

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel: “I stand before you tonight with a stomach full of guacamole and just a hint of hot sauce behind my ears because the NFL returned this weekend and with it, we men bid our wives and families adieu. We’ll speak again after the Super Bowl and then we’ll speak for about a month after March Madness starts up. Hey by the way, if you didn’t do well in your fantasy league this weekend, don’t worry, it’s not real, it’s meaningless. The NFL is taking the new safety first initiative very seriously. There were a number of key penalties issued for unnecessary roughness yesterday. Those now carry a minimum penalty of fifteen yards. Some fans are upset that the league is trying to minimize the hard hits, I’m not. Am I the only one who watches mostly for the huddles? Huddles and cuddles, that’s my thing” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” ABC, 9/9).
