Empty Seats At French Open Semifinal Draw Twitter Reactions

The Rafael Nadal-Novak Djokovic French Open semifinal match is underway, but there were some notable patches of empty seats when the match began shortly after 7:00am ET that drew some reaction on Twitter.

The N.Y. Times’ Christopher Clarey wrote, “We now have definitive proof that lunch trumps #tennis in France. Chatrier stands still not full at 1 pm, not even for Djokovic-Nadal.” Pro tennis player Anne Keothavong wrote, “Can't believe there are empty seats for the Djokovic - Nadal match. Everyone still at lunch? I'd go hungry to watch this match court side.” NFL Panthers Sports Marketing Sales Exec Mike Mahoney wrote, “Even McEnroe commenting on the number of open seats down low for this Nadal match. Where is everyone?” SI’s Jon Wertheim: “Best-of-five + hospitality tents = vacancies” (TWITTER.com, 6/7).
