Red-Carpet Event For "42" Raises Funds For Negro Leagues Museum
The Jackie Robinson biopic "42" opens nationwide today, and the AMC Barrywoods 24 theater in K.C. last night hosted a red-carpet gala screening of the film. Stars Harrison Ford and Chadwick Boseman were on hand, and the event raised $200,000 for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and K.C. Sports Commission. In a red-carpet ceremony, Ford and Boseman "presented a Monarchs jersey from the film" to museum President Bob Kendrick (K.C. STAR, 4/12).
A "potential high-teen, low-$20 million domestic opening" is anticipated for the Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures release (VARIETY.com, 4/11). See today's issue of THE DAILY for comprehensive coverage of the film's opening.
