Record Turnout Expected For MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference
The seventh MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference opens today with organizers expecting an event-record attendance of more than 2,700 people, up from 2,200 last year and nearly twice the level of two years ago. Scheduled speakers include NBA Deputy Commissioner & COO Adam Silver, MLBAM President & CEO Bob Bowman, ESPN President John Skipper, Astros President & CEO George Postolos, Dodgers President & CEO Stan Kasten, Ticketmaster North American President Jared Smith and the N.Y. Times' Nate Silver, among many others.
German software giant SAP at the conference today will announce the creation of a new football scouting solution designed to aid teams in identifying and acquiring talent. The 49ers, which already have signed SAP as a founding partner for the team's forthcoming new stadium in Santa Clara, are the debut client of SAP Scouting, with the team using it to help prepare for next month's draft.
