Tampa City Council Could Seek Money For Bucs Practice Facility

The Tampa City Council this week will consider whether to seek about $2.57M to pay for a Buccaneers practice facility from a fund created in '96. The money was set aside "after Hillsborough County voters approved a half-cent sales tax increase" to pay for projects "including the construction of Raymond James Stadium and the Bucs' practice facility." The original deal was that the Bucs would get the money, now nearly $11.67M, after building a facility and turning it over to the Tampa Sports Authority. The Bucs in '07 built a practice facility "but never deeded it to the Sports Authority" (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 2/6).
