Super Bowl Media Day: NFL Network Taps Cowboys Exec As Analyst

The Mercedes-Benz Superdome today hosts Super Bowl Media Day, and NFL Network is bringing in Cowboys VP/PR & Communications Rich Dalrymple "as an on-air analyst" from 11:00am-3:00pm ET (DALLASNEWS.com, 1/27). SI's Peter King writes NFL Network is "taking a bit of a gamble" by putting Dalrymple on the air. The "idea is for Dalrymple to decipher what spin coaches and players are using when speaking to the press" (SI.com, 1/28).

Meanwhile, given Ravens LB Ray Lewis' controversial past, TV execs will be "following his media encounters all week." If the subject of his involvement in a murder case "lingers and becomes a national focus, blowing winds of controversy through the Super Bowl drivel, Lewis could have a problem if he wants a television career." But if the "uncomfortable inquiries never materialize," Lewis "may one day find himself carrying a microphone" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 1/29).
