Dodgers, Time Warner Cable Expected To Announce TV Deal

The Dodgers and Time Warner Cable as soon as today are expected to announce a TV agreement that reportedly will see TWC create a team-owned channel and pay the franchise $7B over 20-25 years. The deal needs a final agreement with MLB over how much of the money "would be subject to local revenue sharing." Officials from the league and team are expected to meet today (N.Y. TIMES, 1/24). If the $7B figure is correct, it would mark the "largest team TV deal in sports history," and the number would "far exceed the local TV broadcast revenue received by any other MLB team" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 1/24).
