Taking Attendance....

Texas A&M’s 41-13 win over Oklahoma on Friday night drew 87,025 fans to Cowboys Stadium, marking the “second largest attendance in Cotton Bowl history” (DALLASNEWS.com, 1/5). The attendance was up 8% from 80,956 fans for the Kansas State-Arkansas matchup last year (THE DAILY).

The BBVA Compass Bowl on Saturday drew a “record crowd of 59,135” for Ole Miss’ defeat of Pitt. The game at Legion Field in Birmingham is the “eighth-ranked bowl in announced attendance this bowl season” and outdrew the Louisville-Florida Allstate Sugar Bowl (AL.com, 1/5).

The GoDaddy.com Bowl on Sunday drew an “announced crowd of 37,913” for the Arkansas State-Kent State matchup (AL.com, 1/7). The crowd at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile was down 2% from 38,734 for the Northern Illinois-Arkansas State matchup last year (THE DAILY).

A sellout crowd of 84,325 attended yesterday's Seahawks-Redskins NFC Wild Card game at FedExField, the Redskins' first home playoff game in 13 years (WASHINGTON POST, 1/7).

A crowd of 10,024 yesterday attended the South Florida-Syracuse basketball game at the Sun Dome in Tampa. The game helped USF to "its first home sellout in 11 years" (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 1/7).
