MLB Owners Gather In Chicago To Ratify National TV Contracts
MLB owners today begin their two-day quarterly meeting in Chicago. The primary action item on the agenda is a formal ratification of new national TV contracts with ESPN, Fox and TBS that were struck this past summer and early fall. The trio of pacts, covering the '14-21 seasons, will more than double the league's collective revenue from national TV from slightly more than $700M per year to about $1.5B. Team owners also will hear a series of end-of-season economic reports and further prepare for the next World Baseball Classic in March.
