ESPN, ESPN2 Will Carry Only Two MLB Games On Season's Final Day

ESPN "had planned to carry an MLB doubleheader" today, the final day of the regular season, with another doubleheader on ESPN2. But with the "playoff picture largely settled," the outlets will carry "a total of just two games." At 7:00pm ET, ESPN will air Red Sox-Yankees and ESPN2 will carry Orioles-Rays. Viewers "facing local blackouts will get the other game being aired." To "entice viewers," ESPN will cut to Tigers-Royals for each of Tigers 3B Miguel Cabrera's at-bats as he "tries to become MLB's first Triple Crown winner since 1967" (USATODAY.com, 10/1).
