Riggle To Succeed Caliendo As Comedian On "Fox NFL Sunday"

Fox Sports announced that Rob Riggle will be featured on episodes of the "Fox NFL Sunday" pregame studio show this season, taking over the role of show's in-house comedian. The announcement was made live on the air yesterday during the net's coverage of the 49ers-Broncos preseason game. Riggle is the show's third comedian, following Jimmy Kimmel and Frank Caliendo, whose nine-year run ended last season (Fox Sports Media Group).

In other football broadcast talent news, NFL Network today will announce that Chris Rose is the new host of the net's postgame shows for its Thursday night games "as well as its Sunday midday and late-night highlight shows." Rose replaces Fran Charles in that role. Also, CBS will feature golf analyst David Feherty talking to fans in the stadium during its coverage of Saturday's Notre Dame-Navy game in Dublin, Ireland. Feherty, who was born in Northern Ireland, will "ask fans if they can figure out American football" (USA TODAY, 8/27).
