USGA Letting Fans Bring Phones On Course At '12 U.S. Women's Open

The U.S. Women's Open tees off today at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wis., and USGA officials "are allowing mobile phones on the course" during the tournament. The governing body "has not allowed fans to bring phones to major championship tournaments in the past." Attendees "must set phones to silent or vibrate mode and may only place or receive calls in designated areas" (AP, 7/4).

Meanwhile, the USGA unveiled a new 30-second PSA promoting LPGA-USA Girls Golf. The spot is slated to begin airing on TV during this week's coverage of the U.S. Women' Open on ESPN and NBC. The online version can be viewed at USGA.org (USGA).
