North Dakota voters "overwhelmingly decided Tuesday to dump" the Univ. of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux moniker. The final tally showed about 68% "voted in favor of retiring the nickname." The vote sends the matter back to the state's Board of Higher Education, "which is expected to re-retire the nickname and American Indian head logo" (AP, 6/13).

The Magic have narrowed their list of GM candidates to three finalists: former Hornets GM Jeff Bower, Thunder Assistant GM Rob Hennigan and Spurs VP & Assistant GM Dennis Lindsey. Another "finalist or two still could be added to the mix" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 6/13).

Golfer David Duval will be an analyst for ESPN's coverage of the U.S. Open this week at The Olympic Club in S.F. Duval will appear on ESPN3's coverage of two featured groups of golfers during the tournament's first two rounds (ESPN).

The Zac Brown Band will "hold an on-field performance at Kauffman Stadium to kick off" the State Farm Home Run Derby on July 9 (MLB.com, 6/12).
