Stanley Cup Final A Hot Ticket, But Game One Price Trails East Finals

The Devils host the Kings in Stanley Cup Final Game One tonight in Newark, and as of yesterday, the average selling price on the secondary ticket market was $450. That is $117 less than the $567 average "for the entire Devils-Rangers series," and 15% less than the average resale price for the Final series as a whole, according to TiqIQ. Chris Matcovich, a spokesperson from the ticket data site, said that "demand for playoff tickets increased after the Rangers beat the Devils" in Eastern Conference Finals Game Three, pushing the average price for Games Four and Six of that series to $486 and $474, respectively (NJ.com, 5/30).

The L.A. DAILY NEWS' Vincent Bonsignore writes with the N.Y. and L.A. markets represented in the Stanley Cup Final, "hockey has been granted the rare opportunity to present itself to a whole bunch of people who otherwise might not pay attention." Aside from the Rangers representing the East, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman "could not have dreamt a better way to elevate his sport" (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 5/30).
