Barclays Opts Not To Renew Sponsorship Of Scottish Open

The European PGA Tour today announced that Barclays has opted not to renew its sponsorship of the Scottish Open. Barclays took over the title sponsorship of the tournament in '02. Barclays Capital Managing Dir Tim Peat: "We made our decision reluctantly based on current market factors." The tour said that the Scottish Open next year will keep its July date in the week preceding the British Open (European PGA Tour).

Barclays has several prominent golf sponsorships, including the title sponsorship of the first tournament in the PGA Tour FedExCup Playoffs and the Asian Tour’s Barclays Singapore Open. The company also sponsors world No. 9-ranked player Phil Mickelson (THE DAILY).
