Sources: NBA, NBPA To Meet For More Formal Talks Next Week

Sources said that the NBA and NBPA "have agreed to meet again next week" in a collective bargaining session that is "expected to include only a small group of representatives." It will "likely take place on Wednesday or Thursday" and will be the third formal meeting since the lockout began on July 1. Progress is "needed" by Sept. 15 to "avoid the owners galvanizing" at a BOG meeting in Dallas. One source said that the owners "did not put forth a new proposal" during Wednesday's session in N.Y., "as the NBPA had hoped, but that much of the time was spent 'laying the groundwork' for future discussions" (SI.com, 9/1).
