Rugby Football Union Hires NBA's Sophie Goldschmidt As CCO

The Rugby Football Union announced that it has hired NBA Senior VP of Europe, Middle East & Africa Operations Sophie Goldschmidt as its Chief Commercial Officer. Goldschmidt has spent four years with the NBA and helped the league build its international business out of its London office. She will leave the NBA after the Finals and will begin her new job in mid-July. The CCO is a newly created position in which Goldschmidt will be responsible for sponsorship, business development, media rights, retail operations and merchandising and licensing. The NBA has not yet named a replacement. Goldschmidt was named to SBD/SBJ's Forty Under 40 earlier this year.
