NFL Lockout Watch Day 3: Arguments To Begin In Antitrust Case

Arguments are scheduled to begin today in the NFLPA's antitrust case against the NFL in U.S. District Court in Minnesota. Judge Patrick Schiltz this morning recused himself, meaning the case will "get its third judge." Schiltz was assigned the case after it was initially given to Judge Richard Kyle. There is "still belief" by both the league and the players trade association that the case "could end up back in the court of Judge David Doty" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 3/13).

The players will meet beginning Wednesday in Marco Island, Fla., for their annual convention, which has been held in Maui "most years." There, they are expected to "plot a strategy for the next few months, hopeful the request for a preliminary injunction" filed Friday by Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and seven other players "will stop the lockout" (AP, 3/13).
