NFL, NFLPA Remain At Odds Over Franchise Tags This Offseason

NFL teams starting today have a 14-day window to place franchise tags on players, according to league officials' interpretation of "how the rules apply to an expiring CBA." However, the NFLPA "contends teams won't be able to enforce the designation" should the CBA expire on March 4. There has "already been talk about players going to court to challenge a franchise tag, if one is extended" (BOSTON HERALD, 2/10).
