Rangers sell minor league clubs to Diamond Baseball Holdings

The Rangers have sold the High-A South Atlantic League Hickory Crawdads and Single-A Carolina League Down East Wood Ducks “to Diamond Baseball Holdings,” according to Evan Grant of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Both clubs will “remain Rangers’ minor league affiliates," as they are “in the early stages of a 10-year license which runs through 2032.” While the Crawdads will “remain in Hickory, N.C.,” the Wood Ducks, currently in Kinston, N.C., are “expected to move to Spartanburg, S.C. for 2025.” DBH and the city of Spartanburg announced plans to “build a new 3,500-seat stadium that would open for the 2025 season.” The teams will “maintain their current front office staffs.” DBH already “owned 15 minor league teams” before this deal (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 5/23).
