The Bryce is right: Panthers secure Young as next franchise player

Bryce Young “immediately became the new face of the Panthers’ franchise” after the team picked the former Alabama QB with the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, according to Scott Fowler CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. It was the “correct move” for the Panthers, who have been “stuck in NFL purgatory since 2017.” Young is a “worthy gamble,” and if the Panthers are “going to fail, they are going to fail while daring to be great.” Panthers owner David Tepper during the team's draft party on Thursday was asked what Young brings to the team, which he answered, “You really want me to say it? Super Bowls!” Fowler noted drafts are “already about hope,” but with this pick, the Panthers “bought themselves a bushel of it” (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 4/27). In Charlotte, Erik Spanberg notes thousands of fans were at Bank of America Stadium on a rainy night for the Draft party. Tepper, GM Scott Fitterer and coach Frank Reich “spoke to fans from a stage on the field, touting the draft pick and what they hope will be a new era for the franchise” (CHARLOTTE BUSINESS JOURNAL, 4/28).
