Impakt Launches Virtual Workout Platform That Uses AI to Mirror User’s Movements via Avatar

Relying on motion capture software, Impakt Inc. has unveiled a virtual workout platform that tracks, emulates and evaluates a user’s movements via an avatar.

Known as vSports by Impakt, the company’s computer vision and body tracking create Metaverse-style coaches who — through artificial intelligence —provide body analysis and feedback to users on a webcam or smartphone.

The 3D-animated coaches mirror a user’s workout on screen and disseminate biometric statistics and suggestions on the vSports by Impakt app. Subscribers are also empowered with building tools and an SDK to create various virtual worlds that other subscribers can visit, turning the product into a social platform.

Impakt has also announced it is in a pre-seed equity round stage, "testing the waters" to see if there is investment interest — though it says it is not soliciting or accepting funds or entertaining offers to buy securities at this time.

Based in the Silicon Valley, Impakt’s leadership staff includes former developers at Twitch, Netscape and Activision.

Impakt’s launch comes as smartwatch company Garmin reported earlier this month that out-of-home exercise activities have climbed back to pre-pandemic levels.
