Rob Martin becomes latest C-level exec to depart XSET

ROB MARTIN has left his role as Chief Experience Officer of XSET, with the lifestyle and gaming organization's latest C-suite departure coming two months after former co-founder & COO MARCO MEREU exited. Martin took to LinkedIn late Monday night announcing he would be leaving XSET. He did not disclose where he would be headed, stating on LinkedIn, “I encourage all of you to reach out to me if there is an opportunity that fits my skill set.” XSET, based in Boston, was started by Mereu and former FaZe Clan execs GREG SELKOE, WIL EDDINS and CLINTON SPARKS. XSET fields competitive esports teams in Valorant, Rocket League, Rainbow 6, Warzone, Apex Legends and iRacing. The organization also boasts a cadre of talent in content creation and entertainment such as TEE GRIZZLEY, EZEKIEL ELLIOTT and ERIN ASHLEY SIMON.

BUSINESS CYCLE: While some esports outlets have been laying off personnel, XSET co-founder & CEO Selkoe said that the timing of these departures is normal business. “We wish Rob the best, he’s still part of the XSET family,” Selkoe told SBJ via phone. "Look, this is normal turnover for any business, and we’re sad to see them go. But we have some new hire announcements coming this month, as well as esports announcements and hopefully some larger content creator announcements along with an NBA player in the coming months. While there is a general market challenge, we feel we are in one of the strongest positions in the space and are bullish on the gaming lifestyle and opportunities in 2023.”
