Media Notes

In St. Louis, Dan Caesar noted the Cardinals “are shopping for a lead play-by-play announcer,” after ESPN’s Joe Buck and MLB Network’s Bob Costas both declined the job. Buck said that while he already has been approached about doing some Cards Bally Sports games, he “politely declined” the overture. Buck: “I don’t think it’s fair to do just a few games, you have to be committed to this.” Buck's late father, Jack, was a longtime Cardinals broadcaster. Costas said if there “ever was a local team whose games I would have done, it’s the Cardinals.” He added, “But that time long since has passed. It’s not going to happen” (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 12/22).

ADDING TO THE TEAM: In Philadelphia, Rob Tornoe noted former NFLer Hugh Douglas will cohost WIP-FM’s new midday show alongside host Joe Giglio. The duo “will take over a week after the Eagles’ season ends,” when host Angelo Cataldi retires and is replaced by WIP’s current midday show, which features host Joe DeCamara and former Eagles RB Jon Ritchie. It “remains unclear” where analyst Al Morganti, Cataldi’s other longtime cohost, “will land in the station’s lineup” (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 12/21).
