Boise State gets approval to review proposals for Albertsons Stadium renovation

Boise State got approval from the Idaho State Board of Education to “begin reviewing design proposals and select a construction firm for the expansion of the north end of Albertsons Stadium,” according to Ron Counts of the IDAHO STATESMAN. The project includes “adding premium seating, including loge boxes and field-level suites.” It also includes the addition of “general admission seats and the construction of a dining hall, which will serve all of Boise State’s teams.” The expansion is “expected to cost" between $32-40M. Boise State AD Jeramiah Dickey “didn’t put a timetable on the start of construction.” But he said that it was a "big deal to get board approval.” Counts wrote expanding the north end of the stadium is “part of Boise State’s ambitious plan to upgrade just about all of its athletic facilities, creating an athletic village on campus.” Dickey also “offered an update” Saturday on the installation of the Broncos’ new video board in the south end of the stadium. The 6,000-square-foot board, being funded by a $4.5M donation from East Idaho company Melaleuca, is “expected to be in place in time for the Potato Bowl, which is scheduled for Dec. 22” (IDAHO STATESMAN, 10/29).
