NBA partners unveil variety of marketing campaigns around tip-off

NBA partners are unveiling a variety of new tip-off campaigns featuring some of the faces of the league, including Steph Curry, Chris Paul, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid and others.

  • Rakuten: A new ad features brand ambassador Curry. Premiering on TV during the TNT broadcast of Warriors-Lakers tonight, the spot showcases the feeling Rakuten shoppers get when they “score” a great deal and earn cash back on their favorite stores.
  • State Farm: Premiering tonight on TNT, in “What If Sports," Jake from State Farm lets Paul know that State Farm is there to help when he asks what happens if he wants to change his insurance plan. The league and State Farm also will continue their State Farm Assist Tracker program. The initiative turns NBA assists into support for STEAM learning and technology in classrooms and afterschool programs by donating $5 for every assist made. The 2021-22 NBA regular season yielded more than $300,000 in grants to assist with STEAM technology refurbishments.
  • Google: It will launch a new short film and ad campaign featuring Google Pixel 7, the Official Fan Phone of the NBA. Titled “Okay, I See You” and created in collaboration with The Robot Company and DAPS/Anonymous Content, the film follows a small outdoor pick-up game that eventually becomes the greatest of all time. The spot features Antetokounmpo, Candace Parker, Embiid, Kelsey Plum, LaMelo Ball, and Jalen Green, along with other characters like comedian Druski, NBA commentators Taylor Rooks and Richard Jefferson, Paralympian Matt Scott, superfans Nav Bhatia and Jimmy Goldstein, movie star Simu Liu, basketball influencer Jamad Fiin and others.
  • Kia: For the first time in six seasons, Kia will debut a new campaign to celebrate Kia NBA Tip-Off 2022, titled “Legends of the Driveway.” The spot features the new Kia Telluride X-Pro driving through a neighborhood as families play pickup basketball in their driveways.
  • 2K: Fans who advance purchased the NBA 2K23 Championship Edition receive an annual subscription to NBA League Pass.
  • FanDuel: The NBA is partnering with FanDuel to tip off the 2022-23 season by offering qualifying FanDuel customers with a three-month subscription of NBA League Pass.
  • Sorare: Last month, the NBA, NBPA and Sorare announced a multiyear partnership that makes Sorare the Official NFT Fantasy Partner of the NBA. Sorare launched the first officially licensed, free-to-play digital collectible-based fantasy basketball game, which is released today. Sorare will host a community event today to unveil its new game. Sorare’s community event will also feature an interview with Karl-Anthony Towns.
