Kubota to appear on Ross Chastain's car in new Trackhouse Racing partnership

Japan-based Kubota has a new sponsorship deal with Trackhouse Racing, aligning its tractor company subsidiary with Ross Chastain, an eighth generation watermelon farmer turned professional driver. The deal is officially with Kubota Tractor Corp., based in Grapevine, Texas, and it starts with this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway with a co-primary on the No. 1 Chevrolet driven by Chastain. Kubota will share space on the side of the car with Onx Homes, a brand with connections to Trackhouse co-owner Justin Marks. Financial terms were not disclosed. Kubota becomes official tractor of the team and will remain with Trackhouse next year, but the number of primaries it will run was not immediately clear. Kubota unveiled the agreement to its dealers last night at their annual meeting in Grapevine. The brand makes tractors, hay tools, construction equipment, utility vehicles and equipment for residential lawns and gardens. Chastain’s family owns a 400-acre watermelon farm in Florida, and he has used that as part of his identity as a driver, naming his merchandise line Melon Man Brand and smashing a watermelon every times he wins a NASCAR race. Kubota also is a sponsor of the Professional Bull Riders, and it has a smaller-profile sponsorship in NASCAR’s third-tier Truck Series with ThorSport Racing. Other sponsors of Trackhouse include Coca-Cola, Commscope, Princess Cruises, Jockey and Worldwide Express.
