People Personalities: Shams Charania re-ups with Stadium/Bally, Athletic

In N.Y., Ryan Glasspiegel reports NBA reporter Shams Charania has “signed new deals to remain” at Stadium/Bally Sports and The Athletic. Charania appears “across digital and TV platforms” for Stadium and Bally Sports. He appears on Stadium’s weekly NBA show, “Inside the Association,” as well as “The Rally,” which Stadium “produces for the Bally Sports RSNs each weeknight.” This is Charania’s "third contract with both Stadium and The Athletic," both of which he joined in 2018. When he “gets a scoop, both outlets are credited” (N.Y. POST, 9/22).

SUBBAN WATCH: THE ATHLETIC’s Sean Shapiro writes with P.K. Subban’s official retirement from the NHL, “keep an eye out for announcements about his television career.” Subban “made cameos with ESPN the past two seasons” but has always “been quiet about his long-term plans and claimed he was waiting to retire from playing.” Shapiro: "ESPN and Subban seem like a natural fit for a more-permanent deal now that the playing part is out of the equation" (THEATHLETIC.com, 9/22).

NOTES: Former NFLer Emmanuel Sanders is “joining NFL Network’s GameDay Morning on Sunday mornings.” His first show will “take place ahead of Week 3’s slate of games” on Sunday (SI.com, 9/21)....ESPN has signed NFL reporter Field Yates to a multiyear extension. Yates will continue to contribute to ESPN's various fantasy football programs and outlets (ESPN).
