Section Yellow, a new initiative at Lambeau Field "created by sober Packers fans," offers a "respite from drinking at one of the most alcohol-laden places in the country," according to Natalie Eilbert of the GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE. Section Yellow last year debuted as a "yellow information table in Lambeau's atrium" offering resources, yellow sobriety stickers [and] solidarity." Packers fan John Plageman wanted to bring his “sober knowledge as a Phishhead to his home base as a cheesehead." At Phish concerts, the sober section -- "festooned with yellow balloons" -- offers a "moment of relief for fans struggling to stay sober and it functions as a station for solidarity." Plageman in 2019 “floated the idea of creating a yellow section at Lambeau Field" to Bellin Health Chief Nursing Officer Laura Hieb, who along with Plageman is part of the Brown County Alcohol and Drug Coalition for Change. Hieb "set up a meeting with the Packers," and the idea “resonated with some powerful people up top.” Plageman said that Section Yellow was “present at nearly every Packers home game” last year with the "exception of Family Night and one playoff game" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 9/22).
