Cam Smith hopes LIV fight pushes PGA Tour to bring event to Australia

Golfer Cam Smith believes that if the PGA Tour wants to "keep LIV Golf at bay, it needs to broaden its horizons more than loosen the purse strings," and a "wider schedule could and should include an event in" his native country of Australia, according to Will Swanton of THE AUSTRALIAN. Smith said, “It would be nice if our region was looked after in all of this. I’d love if the PGA [Tour] would go down there and play some golf. It’s something I haven’t been able to do personally for a couple of years due to Covid. ... I know the Presidents Cup down there was well received and hopefully we can get some more good players down there.” LIV Golf is "plotting a tournament in Melbourne next year" and Smith "hopes that's the cue for the PGA Tour to take its own show on the road." Smith watched coverage of last week’s LIV event while "filling in time before his afternoon tee slot at the Canadian Open," but said that it is "too early to label the moneyball versus morality tour a good product or a dud" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 6/15).
