Bob Costas enjoying current work load as he enters his 70s

Costas said he would rather do a smaller number of things at a high level than having more in which he'd be spread thinnergetty images

MLB Network play-by-play announcer Bob Costas turned 70 this week, and he “still has his fastball on the air,” it is just that he is not “taking the mound as much as when he was at NBC,” according to Dan Caesar of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. He now “calls games and makes other occasional appearances” on MLB Network in addition to “serving as a contributor to CNN whose perspective is sought on news-making developments in sports.” He also has “revived his HBO show,” now called "Back on the Record with Bob Costas," which “airs quarterly.” Costas of his workload said, "I'm happy where I'm at.” He added that he would “rather do a smaller number of things at a high level than having more in which he'd be spread thinner.” He also said that he “might add another element to his overall schedule ‘as we go forward,’ but is happy with the status quo.” Costas: "I had a very good run with the all the other things. I'm very appreciative of that. Now it's a good time to be at a different stage” (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 3/25).
