NIL Notes: FSU to start selling customized Nike football jerseys

In Orlando, Matt Murschel notes Florida State football players through a partnership with Fanatics and OneTeam can "profit from selling customized jerseys." Fanatics will "offer the sale of customizable Nike jerseys with the name of any players who participate in the group licensing program." Jerseys will be available for the '22 season, and OneTeam will "administer the rights of the athletes." FSU could "expand the program to other sports in the future." The program is part of Apex, the athletic department’s NIL platform (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 2/11).

FOOTBALL SCHOOL: In Columbus, Joey Kaufman notes Ohio State football players reported 27.4% of all NIL deals secured by OSU athletes since last summer. With an average of $15,537 per agreement, the school reported that football players earned a "combined $2.68 million across 173 deals," making up 89.7% of the total compensation reported by OSU athletes. Through Jan. 23, OSU athletes had "disclosed 619 deals" that earned a "combined nearly $3 million." Behind football, women’s volleyball reported the "next-highest percentage of activity" at 8.6%, followed by men’s basketball at 5.6%. Women's basketball reported 1.3%. Each OSU team has had "at least one player reach a deal" (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 2/11).
