ESPN's Steve Levy thinks ManningCast a win for net, not competition

ESPN's Steve Levy thinks the Peyton and Eli Manning alternate broadcast of "MNF" is "a win" for the net, and is not concerned with going head-to-head with the Mannings as the host of the traditional "MNF" broadcast, according to Jimmy Traina of SI.com. Levy said along with Brian Griese and Louis Riddick, "we're all playing for the same team" with the Mannings. Levy: "People want to pit us against each other and I don’t see that. I’m looking at the health of the franchise that is Monday Night Football. The ratings are up. I don’t get into the numbers game, but more people are watching and if that’s because of Peyton and Eli, I’m all for that." He added, “We all fall under the ESPN umbrella and my understanding is the network doesn’t care which channel you’re watching as long as it’s one of our channels." Levy said that early on he would DVR the ManningCast to "see what the fuss was all about." Levy: "I get it. You can’t fake chemistry. That’s something that Brian, Louis and I have worked on in our second year in the booth together and we’re still getting there." Levy added it is a three-year deal for Mannings, but if they are "having a good time," the audience is "clearly having fun watching them; why not keep it going?" (SI.com, 10/21).
