Athletes Unlimited adding basketball to women's sports offerings

Athletes Unlimited next year will add basketball to its roster of women’s sports leagues, which currently includes softball, volleyball and lacrosse. The inaugural basketball season is expected to take place in early '22, though additional details like host venue, broadcast partners and sponsors have not yet been finalized. It is believed Athletes Unlimited’s foray into the sport will aim to be complementary to, and not competitive with, the WNBA. The introductory announcement will be made at a virtual press conference later today featuring Athletes Unlimited CEO & co-Founder Jon Patricof, Thirty Five Ventures CMO Sarah Flynn and members of the league’s player executive committee.
