Youth Sports Management App Aktivate Raises $7 Million in Seed Funding

Aktivate has raised $7 million in seed financing to further develop its youth sports administration software currently used by more than 1,300 K-12 schools across 30 states. The round was led by Will Ventures with participation from Village Global, a venture firm backed by Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates, among others.

Aktivate partners with schools and youth athletics programs to be a resource for parents, coaches and student athletes. Its mobile-first software streamlines processes such as athlete registration, schedule management, communications, and offers payment processing, fundraising tools and e-commerce integration.

Among Aktivate’s co-founders include former American Online CEO and Hulu executive Jon Miller. Will Ventures is a sports tech-focused investment firm co-founded by former NFL linebacker Isaiah Kacyvenski.

“Youth sports is a massively growing industry, yet scholastic sports have long lacked the operational technology that exists at the collegiate and professional levels,” Brian Reilly, managing partner at Will Ventures, said in a statement. “We believe in the power of Aktivate’s software and its community to introduce levels of utility and connectivity that will support student-athletes in maximizing their potential through sports.”
