Baseball's Top VR Training Tool WIN Reality Receives $3.75M Debt Raise

WIN Reality, a virtual reality training product for baseball and softball hitters, announced a $3.75 million debt raise led by LAGO Innovation Fund.

More than 20 MLB organizations and 100 college baseball and softball programs use WIN Reality, making it the market leader in VR training. It runs on an Oculus Quest, uses game pitch tracking data for maximum realism and offers a half-dozen different drills. Last year, WIN Reality partnered with Diamond Kinetics to use the latter’s bat sensor for swing feedback.

The company’s own internal study reports that hitters using WIN Reality—which spun off from EON Reality—experience an average 12.5% improvement in on-base percentage, and teams that use the product received an 18.5% boost in offensive production—roughly an extra run every game.

“This investment enables us to fuel further customer growth and continue innovating to empower athletes to achieve their full potential,” WIN Reality CEO Chris O’Dowd said in a statement. “LAGO immediately understood our value proposition and it has been a pleasure working with them to help take our vision to the next level.”

O’Dowd, a former minor league player, founded the Austin-based company with his father, Dan O’Dowd, who previously served as Colorado Rockies general manager. Dan O’Dowd is now an analyst at MLB Network and is WIN Reality’s chairman.
