MLB Fran Notes: Brewers fans snap up Christian Yelich's free tickets

In Milwaukee, Hannah Kirby notes Brewers LF Christian Yelich "purchased 10,000 tickets" for the team's upcoming series against the Cardinals to give away to fans, who "eagerly took him up on the offer." Yelich's tickets were released at 10:00am CT yesterday and were available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Shortly after noon, the Brewers tweeted that the tickets were "all gone." People could "redeem up to four free tickets per game for Sept. 20, 21, 22 and 23" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 9/16).

GOAL MET: In Philadelphia, Matt Breen notes the Phillies' vaccination rate climbed to the "85% threshold, enabling them to enjoy relaxed COVID-19 health and safety protocols for the final three weeks of the season." The Phillies "will have less restrictions when they travel but they have just nine road games left." The Phillies were "one of baseball's final teams to reach the 85% threshold" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 9/16).

TAKE TWO: In N.Y., Mike Puma notes Mets President Sandy Alderson and Owner Steve Cohen are "ready to take another crack" at finding a president of baseball operations this offseason. But Puma wonders, "Why should the Mets believe the outcome will differ one year later?" Team brass "will again be fishing from essentially the same pond, with a significant difference: Prospective hires will have had a full season to witness from afar the organization's warts under the new ownership." Cohen's "love affair with social media" could be seen as a "potential drawback to any prospective hire." A former exec said, "Cohen is out there tweeting about the organization and about stuff that he shouldn't be tweeting about like he's a fan. Why would somebody want to sign up for that? I think it's a huge issue" (N.Y. POST, 9/16).
