Comcast Resumes $300 Million Upgrades to Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center

The $300 million Wells Fargo Center transformation project began in 2016, but was paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, owner Comcast Spectacor has resumed construction and is two-thirds completed with renovations.

Both thePhiladelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Flyers play at the Wells Fargo Center. Completed upgrades to the venue include a Kinetic 4K center-hung scoreboard, which can transform that has 65% more LED screen real estate than its predecessor. The Kinetic scoreboard—meaning it can be transformed and reconfigured—is the largest of its kind among arenas that host both NBA and NHL teams.

The arena will also feature 8,000 new seats in its lower bowl, bringing its seating capacity to roughly 28,000. Comcast Spectacor also funded a new HVAC system, allowing for air supply of the entire seating bowl to circulate every 30 minutes.

The arena’s Club Level renovations are set to be completed this fall. Floor plan upgrades and additional amenity features will restart next summer.
