Bucks play-by-play announcer Jim Paschke, 70, revealed that the '20-21 season "would be his last, concluding with the first round of the playoffs before all television broadcasts shifted to national platforms," according to JR Radcliffe of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. Radcliffe notes Paschke, who has been "part of the Milwaukee sports fabric for ... close to four decades," is retiring "after 35 years with play-by-play duties" from his role on Bally Sports Wisconsin. Paschke "came to Milwaukee and worked for WITI-TV (Channel 6) in 1980, then became Bucks play-by-play broadcaster" for the '86-87 season, replacing Bill Berg. He also "latched on with the Brewers" from '87-91 and then again from '95-96. In '16, the Bucks "elevated a banner into the Bradley Center rafters commemorating 30 seasons" with Paschke and former NBAer Jon McGlocklin on the microphone. Paschke's career "began in 1971, first as a spotter for CBS broadcasters during the NFC Championship Game" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 5/5). The AP noted Paschke's "overall broadcasting career has lasted 48 years," calling "more than 2,000 Bucks games." He also has called games for Univ. of Wisconsin football and basketball, plus Marquette basketball, "among other assignments." In '18, he became the "recipient of the NBA's Todd Harris Award, which recognizes an NBA broadcaster or executive for showing teamwork and providing inspiration" (AP, 5/4).
