Entain Funds Sports Betting Education for College Athletes

British gambling firm Entain, the joint owner of online sportsbook BetMGM, has partnered with Epic Risk Management to deliver sports betting education programming to college athletes at 40 colleges in the U.S. The deal is a potential stepping stone for legal sports betting being further embraced at the NCAA level.

Participating schools include the University of Akron, Eastern Illinois University, Harvard University, Northern Illinois University, University of Nevada Las Vegas, Ohio University, University of Oregon, Seton Hall University and University of Utah, Fordham University, and Monmouth University.

Athletes will receive gaming awareness sessions from Epic Risk Management, a gambling harm minimization consultancy. Entain’s online sports betting technology powers BetMGM, which entered its 10th state on Wednesday by launhing in Virginia. Entain’s move to provide collegiate gambling education comes a few months after the University of Colorado become the first NCAA program with a sports betting sponsor via its deal with PointsBet.
