Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski scored his record-breaking 21st goal of the season on Sunday as Bayern defeated SC Freiburg, 2-1. He is the first Bundesliga player to score 21 goals in his team’s first 16 matches of a season.
The milestone was reached without fans present, and German Football League CEO Christian Seifert expects Bundesliga games to continue without fans for the remainder of the season due to COVID-19. The Bundesliga allowed fans at 20% capacity in September and October, but that trial was not extended amid rising infections. All major European soccer leagues are currently playing without fans.
