Longtime Flyers TV Broadcaster Bill Clement Steps Down From Team

Clement has either been part of a broadcast team or a studio analyst since '85GETTY IMAGES

Flyers TV broadcaster Bill Clement has stepped down after spending 16 years over two stints as the team's color analyst, and he said that concerns about traveling in a COVID-19 world "played a part in his decision," according to Sam Carchidi of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. Clement or Keith Jones had worked with play-by-play man Jim Jackson on Flyers telecasts. Jones is "expected to do more games," and NBC Sports Philadelphia "may add a broadcaster as the season progresses." Clement has either "been part of a broadcast team or studio analyst" since '85. Earlier in his career, he had a 15-year tenure as lead analyst for ESPN's broadcasts of NHL games, and he was a studio host for NBC and Versus (now NBCSN). Additionally, he was a broadcaster at five Olympics. Carchidi notes Clement "decided to step down after his last birthday on Dec. 20." Clement said, "The clincher was turning 70. ... Turning 70 is kind of an awakening" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 1/18).
