Mavericks Owner MARK CUBAN launched a company that "aims to shake up the drug industry." Per the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Co.'s website, the mission is to "produce low-cost versions of high-cost generics." The company seeks to "introduce over 100 additional drugs by the end of the year" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 1/14).

NAMES: U.S. Figure Skating has reached a $1.45M "settlement" with former skater ADAM SCHMIDT, who had "accused the organization of failing to protect him from sexual abuse by RICHARD CALLAGHAN, a once-prominent coach of Olympians." Schmidt "became the fourth male skater to have publicly accused" Callaghan (N.Y. TIMES, 1/15)....Brazil's federal police "arrested Argentine golfer ANGEL CABRERA on Thursday for extradition to his homeland to face charges for several crimes allegedly committed from 2016 to last year." A police statement said that officials in Argentina have "charged the suspect with assault, theft, illegal intimidation and repeated disrespect to authorities" (AP, 1/15)....The Players Championship is celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday by starting a 50-day countdown to the first round of the '21 tournament. The tournament also is launching the "Rising Leaders of Jax," a leadership program sponsored by First Tee-North Florida in partnership with Duval County Public Schools. The Rising Leaders program will "identify 30 middle school students in Duval County to introduce them to golf and use it as a vehicle to empower them" (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 1/15).
