Rawlings Partners With Bat Sensor Developer Blast Motion

Sporting goods manufacturer Rawlings has reached a new partnership with motion sensor technology company Blast Motion. The deal will center around Blast Motion’s swing analysis sensors being integrated into Rawling’ non-wood bats for baseball and softball.

The first product tied to the deal is Rawlings’ new Mantra softball bat set to hit stores and online retailers later this month. The bat was specifically engineered to accommodate Blast Motion’s swing sensor, which calculates metrics such as the bat’s approach angle and bat speed. Feedback is shared via Blast Motion’s mobile app.

The Mantra bat and Blast Motion sensor will be sold separately. In 2019, Blast Motion became the official swing tracking technology of the USA Softball Women’s National Team. More than 20 MLB teams use Blast Motion, though embedded bat sensors are not approved for use in MLB games. The sensors have been permitted for in-game use at all minor league levels since 2019.
