Andre Drummond, SportsHi Give $5,000 College Scholarship

Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond has partnered with high school sports social media app SportsHi to award a $5,000 college scholarship to Sydney-Reese Harris, a current junior on her high school golf team in Arizona.

Harris was selected out of more than 2,000 applicants who applied for the scholarship sponsored by Drummond. SportsHi’s social network aims to connect high school athletes with college recruiters and scholarship opportunities. The company’s recent seed round was led by all-female investment group 37Angels.

“Sydney-Reese exemplifies the type of student-athlete we want to support. As an African-American female playing golf, there are multiple barriers she is overcoming and if we can play a small role in her journey, that’s exactly the reason why we started SportsHi,” said SportsHi CEO Alexander Miles in a statement.

High school athletes have until Jan. 31 to apply via SportsHi’s app for two other college scholarships, each worth $2,500. Charlotte Hornets assistant coach Jay Hernandez and Las Vegas Aces player Cierra Burdick are both sponsoring a scholarship.
