SNY Ready For Flexible Coverage Of UConn Women's Hoops

SNY so far this season has carried the UConn women's basketball program's first five gamesUConn

SNY will do "whatever it takes to safely bring coverage" to UConn women's basketball fans as long as there are games this season, according to Alexa Philippou of the HARTFORD COURANT. SNY Senior VP/Production and Exec Producer Curt Gowdy Jr. said, "We're firmly committed to making this work, and making it work not only for our great coverage that we provide to our fans, but for our viewers certainly as well." Philippou noted the net had plenty of experience on "behind-the-scenes work and flexibility that go into making a broadcast happen well before basketball season rolled around." For UConn, SNY had already sent Meghan Culmo, Allen Bestwick and a production crew to Seton Hall and Villanova, and that group "intends to continue traveling as long as they're allowed in arenas." One restriction the net had to adjust to is talent and handheld cameras are "not allowed courtside, which means sideline reporter Maria Marino has generated her game coverage in the studio this season." So far this season, SNY has carried the school's first five games. The net also is "producing a slew of additional programming, from its season preview to Huskies All-Access to pre- and post-game shows and more" (HARTFORD COURANT, 12/26).
