Univ. Of Oregon AD Says Department Has $65M Deficit For '20

Univ. of Oregon AD Rob Mullens said the athletic department projected a deficit for FY '20 between $50-85M, and it is now "tracking more toward $65 million," according to John Canzano of the Portland OREGONIAN. Mullens said, "Being able to play Pac-12 football had a positive impact on that." On how the department will mitigate that loss, Mullens said, "We're looking for some financing options, some creative options. We have to survive now in order to thrive later. You hope to keep this to a one-year problem." He added, "We'll look for some financing option. We've made a number of cuts including salaries. We've had to furlough some staff" (Portland OREGONIAN, 12/9).
