Learfield IMG College Renews Long-Term Deals With Michigan, Ohio State

Learfield IMG College has finalized new long-term contracts for the multimedia rights at Michigan and Ohio State. UM's new deal will run through '31, while OSU is signed through '33. Learfield IMG College had the rights to the schools previously, but the compensation structure changed for both deals. The new agreements are primarily revenue-share arrangements that pay an undisclosed percentage of gross revenue, based on sales for the year. Multimedia deals like this often pay the school around 80% of gross revenue with 20% going to the rights holder, but financial specifics were not available for these deals. The revenue-share model reflects the way many rights holders are shifting their clients away from deals that pay heavy guarantees. Learfield IMG College also built in a bonus structure that pays a flat amount for winning a football national championship.
